“Sophia! Just in time… sort of! you are so lucky. See?” Bless their little hearts, they live only about an hour once they warm up properly! Just long enough to lay their eggs! Then…
“Poor little blighters…” I'll give 'em a proper rest deep in the Forest later.
他的目光转向地上那些像烧红烙铁般的卵,神情立刻变得无比凝重:“But these eggs… need handling NOW!
“There! Frozen solid, stable now. 海格松了口气,但脸上没有丝毫放松,反而更加严肃地警告,“But you gotta be quick and careful! If they get too hot before freezing, or if the charm isn't strong enough, they can explode! Not big enough to flatten the hut, mind, but enough to give you nasty burns and shower you with scalding hot shrapnel. Not a pretty sight!
“Phew! That was a bit of a do.”
Hagrid! These eggs… now that they're frozen, are they valuable?”
Oh, very much so, in the right… or wrong hands. Trading in Fire Salamander eggs, even frozen ones, is strictly controlled by the Ministry of Magic. It's illegal to buy or sell them without special permits, which are nearly impossible for folks like us to get.
他顿了顿,强调道:“They're Class B Tradeable Materials. Restricted. Powerful potion ingredient, see? Can be used for… less than wholesome things if it gets into the wrong market. That's why the Ministry keeps a tight rein.
“Oh… I see. I had no idea. Class B?
So here's what we do, and it's the only way: I'll report this directly to Professor Dumbledore and Professor Snape. Tell 'em exactly what happened, how many eggs we've got safely frozen. They'll know the proper channels. If Hogwarts has a legitimate, Ministry-approved need for 'em – maybe for the Restricted Section library as specimens, or for very specific, supervised potion work – then they'll handle it by the book, and any compensation would come through official Hogwarts funds. If not… they'll be safely destroyed. No funny business. Dumbledore wouldn't have it, and neither would I. 没错。
