　　48.

　　Little Bo-Peep has lost her sheep,
　　And can't tell where to find them；
　　Leave them alone, and they'll come home,
　　And bring their tails behind them.

　　小波比丢失了她的小绵羊，
　　无处诉说找寻它们的方向；
　　留其独自在一旁，它们将回到家中，
　　遗留其尾于身后。

　　Little Bo-Peep fell fast asleep,
　　And dreamt she heard them bleating；
　　But when she awoke, she found it a joke,
　　For still they all were fleeting.

　　小波比快快进入梦乡，
　　梦见听到羊群的鸣响；
　　梦醒后，惊觉不过虚幻一场，
　　只因羊群全在未知的地方。

　　Then up she took her little crook,
　　Determined for to find them；
　　She, found them indeed, but it made her heart bleed,
　　For they'd left all their tails behind 'em!

　　随之便收敛其不幸的想法，
　　下定决心要找到那些小羊。
　　她确实寻觅到却心力交瘁。
　　只因在它们走后留下羊尾。

　　It happened one day, as Bo-peep did stray，
　　Unto a meadow hard by——
　　There she espied their tails, side by side,
　　All hung on a tree to dry.

　　某天发生的事，小波比迷失彷徨之时
　　走在一片干草地上——
　　于此她看见它们的尾巴，紧密相连。
　　全挂在树上等待风干。

　　She heaved a sigh and wiped her eye,
　　And over the hillocks she raced；
　　And tried what she could,as a shepherdess should,
　　That each tail should be properly placed。

　　她轻声叹息，她抹去泪光，
　　她奋力越过小丘之上；
　　她尽她所能，如同一位牧羊女一样，
　　每条尾巴被整整齐齐陈放。
