1、Chapter 1. Switzerland X Austria 青梅竹马

　　The first time Gilbert saw Roderich was when he led his army in the battle against Muslins from east. The day was a usual day until he saw his playmate and war partner Elizaveta Héderváry infatuatedly looking up at the balcony of a castle in Vienne.
　　‘I shall marry him someday in the future.’ said Elizaveta, the wild and brave Magyar boy from Hungary grassland, in the voice of dream.
　　‘Who’ asked Gilbert, wondering what exactly could charm his rude fellow.
　　‘The gentleman on the balcony there. ’
　　The moment Gilbert saw Roderich the sky turned dark, even though it was a sunny day in reality.

　　Manyyears later, when Gilbert called back his remote memory, he always felt amazed because there were actually two persons on the balcony then. But his eyes fixed on Roderich only.
　　Roderich was with his knight Vash Zwingli, his childhood sweetheart. They were perfect match, from appearance to character, from manners to hobbies; everyone in the House of Habsburg secretly wished for their marriage. Yet they did not get married after all.
　　The blonde-green-eyed knight finally broke up with the brown-haired aristocrat and musician, which proved that the first love was always a bitter failure.
　　Gilbert was happy anyhow, as he thought he had chance to pursue the beauty.
　　However, Roderich got married; the groom was neither Gilbert nor his playmate Elizaveta.
