23、催眠（4） Vivia

　　Vivian：“I'm a man, but I'm wearing a robe—not a bathrobe, just something I would wear daily. It feels oriental. The candle is lit. It's late at night, but my wife is staying up with me. She's sad, and there seems to be something on my mind, too. Something bad happened, something really bad…（我是一个男人，但我穿着一件长袍——不是浴袍，只是平时会穿的衣服。它带有东方风格。烛光已经点亮。夜已深，但我的妻子还陪着我。她很难过，我的心里似乎也有一些事情。发生了一些不好的事，非常糟糕的事情…）”

　　Pukia：“What's that thing?（什么事？）”

　　Pukia问得漫不经心。她无需再去伪装她的声音或是她的耐心，因为Vivian已经妥协了。

　　就在刚刚，Vivian的态度突然发生了一百八十度大转变。她不仅坐回沙发上，还自动仰躺下——她请求她继续催眠她，发誓她一定会给她比她想要得到的更好的东西。

　　Vivian：“The plan was exposed. The Emperor knew about the list.（计划已经暴露。皇上知道了那份名单。）”

　　Pukia：“What list?（什么名单？）”

　　Pukia变得有点儿好奇。她不知道Vivian葫芦里到底在卖什么药。

　　Vivian：“The list of rebels. I signed my name on it as a pledge of allegiance. （叛乱者名单。我在上面签了自己的名字，作为结盟的承诺。）”

　　Pukia：“Ok...（好吧...）”

　　Vivian：“My whole family would die—I can’t let that happen! So I sent my men to intercept the list before it reached the Emperor. I changed my name on it… to… I don’t remember… but I changed it. I changed it to someone else’s.（我的全家都会死，我不能让那种事发生！所以我派我的人在皇上拿到名单之前拦截下它，然后我把上面的名字改了…改成…我不记得了…但我改了，把它改成了别人的名字。）”

　　Pukia：“Then what happened? Did it fool the Emperor?（之后呢？它骗过皇上了吗？）”

　　Vivian：“Yeah, it did. He didn’t notice at all. And today is the execution day… of that person’s whole family…（是的，骗过他了。他完全没有察觉。而今天就是那个人全家被处决的日子…） ”

　　突然，躺在沙发上的Vivian抑制不住地崩溃大哭，全身颤抖。Pukia在怀疑和惊愕之中抽了几张纸巾塞到她的手里。Vivian接过，擦了擦眼泪。

　　Vivian：“It’s my fault! I had him killed, but I had no choice — it was either his life or mine. Forgive me, please forgive me! If there is a next life, I will do anything to repay him. I will endure anything, just as it descended upon him. I will take it upon myself to atone for my sin!（这是我的错。是我害死了他，但我别无选择——不是他死，就是我亡。原谅我吧，请原谅我！如果有来生，我会做任何事来偿还他。我愿意忍受一切，就像那些苦难降临在他身上一样。我愿意承担一切来赎清我的罪！）”

　　话说完，Vivian从激动的情绪中挣脱出来，猛地睁开了眼睛。
